Sweet Moments

Am I the only who thinks that January went by soo quickly? Hope your weekend was wonderful! Mine was filled with studies. BUT there was loads of sunshine, it almost hit 70 degrees here which was too exciting. I also got to enjoy some of my favorite cupcakes from Camicakes. If you are ever in the Atlanta or Jacksonville area, they are worth the lookup. Red Velvet is the best to settle a sweet craving.

Boyfriend decided to surprise me with some lovely flowers which was soo sweet of him.

I was also able to take a study break and venture off to Zara to check out their awesome sale. Well, I only scored a dress (which you will see tomorrow) on sale, but I have been wanting some really fitted khaki pants so I picked that up too. Is anyone else excited for Valentines Day except me? All my friends pretty much hate it so I stand on my own, LOL!

Happy Friday lovelies!! I can't express enough my excitement for spring colors! At the moment, I am loving these pants from Zara. I am also a HUGE fan of the slim leg so these are perfect. Current mission: Find the blue ones in my size.

And If you love these bright colors are not enough to set your mood for spring then surely these shoes from the Christian Dior Spring 2011 Collection are bound to make you happy.

1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE going on Cruises. More or less because they are soo exciting and I don't have to take an airplane to leave the country (I have to calm myself down anytime I get on a plane).

3. I have little sisters who are twins. AND they both look older than me. Some how, I can still pass for 16, yet they get 24.

4. I hate going to the hair salon and getting my hair done. I've never liked it and still don't. I try to do my own hair and go maybe 5 times a year.

5. I'm described as very random and comical by my friends, when in fact I think that I am a very shy person. Apparently I am the only one who thinks that way.

6. I have been trying to learn French for a while now. Hopefully sometime soon I will be able to make a whole post in French (with translations of course).

7. I love meeting new people (I guess this isnt really random because obviously I am blogging to strangers..lol) but feel free to message me guys! I'd love to meet you!

Something to hope for...

Sooner or later we all come to a point in our lives where things aren't going as we planned. Instead of that cake walk we expect to encounter, we find our everyday lives filled with a parade of obligations, errands we have to run, people we don't want to see, places we are required to go. Take a minute to plan enjoyable things for yourself in the future. There has to be something that you are looking forward to in the next few months; at least for me, thats how I keep sane. By having something to look forward to, no matter what your circumstances, you have something to hope for and something to be happy for. I've been going insane studying for this bar exam that I will be taking next month, among other things in my life that just make everything all the more stressful. I was in such a good mood this morning for no freaking reason, just happy. It makes the long days of obligations seem soo much better when I'm not stressing and complaining. What happy things are on my calendar? Travel and hopefully the results for my hard work! Mardi Gras and New York in March, Cozumel and Bar Results in May! What happy things are on your calendar??

My legs are feeling a little blue

Is spring here yet? We're not really use to frigid weather down here in the south. I have realized that I find myself sticking to a lot of dark colors the colder it gets. It's kind of sad. This shade of blue isn't that much brighter but I've been thinking about how much I really want to be out by the ocean somewhere with the sun just blazing down on me. This blue reminds me of the water. I guess that I will keep dreaming.

 New Rings!

Brain Spasms:
1) I happen to love Jessica Simpson shoes and they are having a sale on many of the things on her website. I ordered these Dany shoes in black on Wednesday night and they should be here on Monday. If I like them enough (and they are still like 50% off), I am planning on ordering another pair in  snakeskin. If you love her shoes too...or just love shoes. Check out the sale.

2) I haven't been to the movies in forever. I am not really sure whats out anymore. Any suggestions? I want to go tonight. Or I may just rent some movies. I still need to see Social Network, Salt, Inception, among other things that others have recommended. I am not really sure whats on DVD by now, LOL.

3) I hate that I buy those cheap 5 dollar rings from Forever21, H&M, etc.. because I grow such a strong attachment to them then they break. I've had this one forever 21(the blk oval stone one in the pic above) probably for 2 years now (I know! thats like 1 1/2 years more that its shelf life). It has held up nicely and its like my favorite ring. Then 3 days ago it falls on the kitchen floor and I think I felt my heart drop when I saw it in two pieces (Overly dramatic I know). I was determined not to throw it out so I purchased some E6000 adhesive (by suggestion of Boyfriend) and now its as good as new! I wonder what else E6000 can fix?

4) Don't judge me if Im rocking these blue tights in a brown outfit tomorrow. love them!

African Traditional Wear

I remember being younger and hating it when my parents would dress us up in traditional clothes. I just hated all the prints.

I think that around middle school, our parents stopped forcing traditional wear on us. It's kind of sad now because now I have to basically beg Mom to help me get clothes made in Ghana or even just the fabric. What do kids know right?

It's funny because there are so many great African designers out there right now that have AMAZing collections which infuse a lot of traditional African prints. One designer that I am just soo in love with right now is Christie Brown. Christie Brown is a Ghanaian based fashion brand with head designer Aisha Obuobi. Her collections are soo clean cut with lots of color and sophistication. Here are a few of her designs.

A 10 By Me

Awesome dinner last night guys. The Fish Tacos were a success! So glad I tried this recipe that I found at allrecipes. Not sure what I would do if it wasnt for all those superb cooks. Anyway...the final project!

I also made some guacamole on the side. The recipe is on one of my previous posts. If you would like to know how to make these delicious tacos then read on because they were so good that they will be receiving a special encore for dinner tonight....
The hardest part for me was probably frying the fish because I learned why I should've used a pot to fry the fish and not my deep fryer (my deep fryer has a basket which fish gets stuck in and it tears to pieces when you try to remove soo, i had to fry 2 new pieces after that).


Ingredients (I omitted and added a few things to the original recipe) ~Made about 8
Batter
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup beer (I've never beer battered anything before, nor do I like the taste of beer so I didn't know if the brand mattered. I used Michelob Ultra)


White Sauce
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 lime, juiced
About 10 jalapeno slices out of the jar
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed
1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

1 quart oil for frying
1 pound tilapia fillets (The recipe called for cod...I hate cod)
Package of flour tortillas
finely shredded cabbage, cilantro, salsa, and guacamole for topping.

Hey guys. It's time for me to unload my random pictures for the past week.

Apparently the secret to them is in the sauce which Glocal Girl so kindly informed me.

I actually found a few recipes for Patatas bravas last night and will put them into work over the weekend to let you guys know which one is best.

 Now this is definitely something that I am pretty darn good at. Sangria. I absolutely love! My homemade sangria normally includes brandy, lemon juice, frozen lemonade, oj, red wine, triple sec, and a lemon, orange, and lime. Delish! Let me know if anyone would like me to post the recipe.

These are really really addicting. My Uncle brings chocolates everytime he visits Germany and its kind of sad when you get to the last piece. I have no idea where to get this here but it tastes like a milky way (or a 3 musketeer, not sure) but the chocolate seems to taste soo much better.

 Wooden shoes that my dad brought me from Holland. Random fact, but because much of Holland lies below sea level, many areas are very marshy. A long time ago, the Dutch found that wooden shoes were great for walking on the marshy ground. Wooden shoes kept their feet dry and did not get ruined from the dampness. Even though wooden shoes are very noisy to walk in, they are useful for farmers working in wet fields. Most Dutchmen wear shoes like we do today; however, there are some small villages where wooden shoes are still worn. But they are used only outdoor. As for me, these shoes will just decorate some little table in the house.

 I have forever wanted a mirrored table/ drawer. Being so, I am forcing boyfriend to help me turn an old nightstand into something like the one above. I don't see myself paying $160 and upwards for one so I figure that this could be an awesome project. I will definitely be taking pictures of the process.

I had fun today organizing my jewelry. I managed to find a mirrored tray like this one for 6 bucks at a Burlington Coat Factory. I also got tired of untangling my earrings everytime i pulled them out of a jewelry box so I purchased an earring stand from there too. Kind of like this but bigger

My silly dog Keno. Love him dearly. He needs a haircut.

As you know (or may not know) by now, I have a HUGE obsession with fish tacos. I will be attempting them for dinner so I bid you goodbye.

I love this quote! Have you ever gone as long as a year or two and realized that a person who you believed to be one way is really just a stranger to you? What good is it to pretend to be someone that you are not? Needless to say, can you imagine how tiring that would be to go so long living as some other person just because you feel like that is what others want to see?  If you do not love yourself, how can you expect somebody else to love you? You are beautiful, you are unique, being you is always in fashion.

I'm just sayin....

Happy Friday Guys! Short outfit post but I finally got to leave the house today which was excellent because I was able to do some much needed grocery shopping and picked up a few things from the mall.
