Death by Insanity

So, my sister convinced me to tryout this workout called Insanity. If you have ever done it, you already know that it is NOT for the faint of heart. I started it about a month ago and it has kicked my butt every single time. I definitely cannot afford to lose any weight at all, so why am I doing it still you ask? Because it has whipped me up into better shape so far. Granted that I have had to up my calories per day by a lot to maintain and even gain some weight, I found that this program has been the only thing in the past year that has helped me stay motivated enough to exercise consistently, instead of my being in and out the gym every few months. I actually find some enjoyment in doing these dvds. I have also been able to get some more muscle definition in my arms...yay! Hopefully by the time I'm done, my legs and stomach will be a bit more toned. I also havent been following the routine to the exact schedule...I switched it up a bit to add more of the ab workouts and less of the cardio (to help me maintain and even gain some weight), but so far so good. So for those of you that are looking to lose a few pounds quick...this is definitely your answer. You should be able to lose at the very very least, 10 pounds if you actually go through this program. AND you will definitely feel like you could run 10 miles.....DIG DEEPER!!

So I'm a Leopard Convert

Honestly, I use to absolutely hate anything leopard print. I just always saw it as tacky and old ladyish when I saw people wearing leopard print...especially people that wear it from head to toe. I admit, I still think its tacky when people are dressed in leopard print from head to toe, but there is nothing wrong with small leopard print pieces to make an outfit chic. Like an all black outfit with a leopard scarf or a leopard print bag or heels. Leopard, I believe is one of those risky patterns that can make or break an outfit. But anyone that considers themselves fashionable takes risks here and there right? So this was my attempt to step outside my comfort zone...excuse the hair by the way...its rainy outside

Strawberry Shortcake...but not

I wanted to eat something with fresh strawberries so I went to the grocers to buy some and of course there were absolutely no edible looking ones..hmp. I guess thats how I know summer is truly over....but I continued my denial as I walked my butt home with a bag of frozen strawberries. Haha! So, I actually need the strawberries for my pound cakes that I made.
So I said this was strawberry shortcake because I decided to top my pound cake with whipped cream and strawberries, but I made pound cake instead of shortcake because I find pound cake soo much more moist. This made a very yummy dessert. I just hate that I had to use frozen strawberries.
Anyway, the recipe is down below if you'd like to try it. Instead of using a loaf pan, I like to use cupcake cups so ill have little individual pound cakes. :)

Pound Cake Ingredients:

1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter, plus more for pan
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for pan
1/2 teaspoon fine salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
1. Cream butter and shortening together with a mixer.
2. Add sugar, a little at a time.
3. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each addition.
4. Stir dry ingredients together in a bowl and add to mixer alternately with milk, starting with the flour and ending with the flour.
5. Mix in vanilla.
6. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

Add whatever toppings you like. Me, I like to add whipped cream and strawberries.

Flea Markets and Gladiators

The Weather is still very warm down here...mid 80s F. So I wont be pulling out the fall clothes anytime soon even though summer is technically over. Decided to head to the Flea Market today. Flea Markets are pretty cool. You can find the most interesting things there...everything from fresh farm produce to fine antiques. I wasn't really looking for anything in particular, just wanted to browse. Flea Markets can be pretty much of a hit or miss, it feels kind of like treasure hunting. Definitely check one out always leave with something. For me, I got a couple of dvds still in shrink wrap for under 15 bucks (including a full season of House, M.D.!!!!)

From Paris With Love

I had the opportunity to visit Paris a few months back and wanted to share some of my favorite pictures. I was only able to go for 4 days so there was soo much that I wanted to do that I wasn't able to (like go up the Eiffel Tower). But the trip was so fast paced that I think we accomplished more than people do in a week. Paris was sooo beautiful and this was probably the best trip of my life. I will keep those memories with me forever. The weather was pretty much overcast the whole trip and it rained a good bit, but I still managed to get some decent pictures out of it. I was also able to score my first Louis Vuitton purse straight from France!!!
La Tour Eiffel

Eiffel Tower from further away

Random side street. I just thought it was soo interesting how small the streets were compared to in the US

Every building was structured so beautifully!

Shopping on the Champs- Elysees

This was like the biggest Louis Vuitton Store I had ever been in. I actually got lost in it.

You can see L'Arc de triomphe from here!!

Le Petit Palais!!

La Seine

I think that this was a view outside of Musee d'Orsay

Notre Dame

Wayyy too many people trying to get in at once

The only good picture I got inside of the church

Musee du Louvre

Pyramide du Louvre - soooo coool!

My souvenir!!! Speedy 30

Paris, je t'aime
I am already planning a trip back!!
